In the May & June 2008 issue of Doll Castle News
I think we went from winter to summer here in northern New Jersey! All of a sudden we could turn back the thermostat and open the windows. Today is a beautiful day, almost a bit on the warm side! Enough said about the weather.
I want to tell you all about the May-June 2008 issue, and I'll get to that in the next paragraph, but at the moment I need your help!. I am trying to include some different and interesting articles, photos and "memories" of Vogue Dolls of the 50's and other dolls of the 50's. Did you have a favorite doll from the 1950s, if so who was she?, when did you get her, do you have a picture of you from childhood playing with this doll or do you still have her, or have you replaced her? I have my Toodles, Miss Revlon and Little Miss Revlon, one of my Ginny dolls, and my Ginette. Somewhere I have a large Sweet Sue Walker doll about the size of Patty Play Pal, maybe my Tiny Tears and a few others. I'd love to have you write a few paragraphs and send photos if you have some about your dolls of the 1950s! NEED THIS INFORMATION BY MAY 12th, 2008. Thanks so much!

I had a wonderful 4 day doll week-end away from home. I must take my short trips in between issues of Doll Castle News. First "Little Edwina" and I attended the Chesapeake Doll Club Luncheon on April 12th, at the lovely Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, Maryland. Greetings were presented by Barbara Stone, President of the Chesapeake Doll Club, and Elinor Champion, President, UFDC. Elizabeth Ann Coleman gave a very informative slide presentation and program "Behind the Threads of Victorian Fashions". And Heather Maciak, the Souvenir Doll Artist told us she would rather be scupting a doll anyday, than giving a speech. She did say a few words and then cordially signed our adorable Quiet Waters Lexie, and she even posed for a photo with "Little Edwina" and my souvenir Lexie doll! I was able to sit with my good friend and Contributing Editor Virginia Ann Heyerdahl and we enjoyed doll talk and talk about our husbands' family roots in Norway! The helpers tables spanned more than 5, 8 foot tables? I'd guess! I was lucky and did win one. I always enjoy participating and feel like it's for a good cause. They also had wonderful dolls on exhibit! What a great day. Then I went on to Norfolk, Va. and my son-in-law Jimmy took us over to Norfolk Navy Base and I took pictures of "Little Edwina" there too. Sunday we attended Amber's Lutheran Church and bible study groupl Monday my daughter Amber, "Little Edwina" and I went to The Williamsburg Doll Factory and enjoyed a wonderful personal tour with Margaret Rothwell. We hurried back to Virginia Beach where we all three, enjoyed lunch overlooking the ocean and beach, and a visit to JoAnn Mathias' doll workshop! I had to come back to reality on Tuesday, so Monday evening we went out to eat, but I didn't take "Little Edwina" there! There is something about the ocean and bays and all the good fresh smells that go along with the ocean and shore! Now it's back to work on the next three issues of Doll Castle News for 2008!
We will also be looking for collectors to share photos and information about older R. John Wright dolls, and antique cloth dolls. We are trying to reach out to all collectors, and will have articles on foreign dolls as well! Please let us know if you have something to contribute! Also let us know if you wish we would include articles and photos of other dolls that we are not!
We look forward to hearing from you, so we can provide articles, patterns, projects, pictures and paper dolls that you are interested in.
I hope to have a full email box with suggestions and your stories of 1950s dolls soon!
The response to requesting one of mom's doll kits to assemble, dress and return to us for our 50th Celebration has been fantastic! We do have several more dolls and doll kits that need to come alive! If you are interested email
info@dollcastlemagazine.com for more about that project, ALSO if you would like the Robert Raikes wooden travel doll "Little Edwina" to visit you and or your club for 20 days ask about that also!
